AdventHealth Wesley Chapel
Wesley Chapel, Florida
SSR was contracted by AdventHealth to conduct a Continuous Commissioning® assessment of their Wesley Chapel facility. AdventHealth Wesley Chapel is a 202,200 SF. It opened in October 2012 as a full service 83 bed hospital. The hospital now has 169 patient beds.
The purpose of the assessment was to evaluate the operational efficiency of the existing HVAC and lighting systems, identify deferred maintenance items that may be impacting overall operational efficiency, identify cost-effective energy savings opportunities designed to resolve operating problems, improve comfort, reduce energy use, and identify potential retrofits or capital-intensive projects for future consideration.
During the assessment, 18 specific recommendations were identified, the most significant of these being converting seven of the 15 air handling units and corresponding constant volume terminal boxes to a variable air volume mode. Quantifying the projected energy savings was necessary and was accomplished by creating a calibrated energy model. Annual savings as of December 2023 are trending at $653,352. The Energy Model projected $179,433 and 20.14% energy savings. Payback is projected at 2.78 years a 35.96% return on investment.
Based on the measured energy savings, the activities at AHWC show continued month over month energy savings. When reviewing the total estimated energy cost savings for the period of April 2017 through December 2023, the savings comes to $653,352. In total, approximately 44% of the cumulative savings comes from electricity and 56% comes from natural gas.
