Sustainable Design Approaches for Modern Projects
Description:
During this course attendees will learn about current drivers for sustainable design and carbon reduction. The presenter will explore the factors used to evaluate sustainability and energy efficiency of buildings, and various approaches to achieve the project goals. As one method to commit and drive towards sustainability in architecture and engineering, the AIA 2030 Commitment framework will be explored in this presentation.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will learn about current drivers for sustainability in buildings, including decarbonization, water management, energy efficiency, health/wellness, and other factors. Energy efficiency and carbon reduction will be the primary focuses of this learning session.
Attendees will learn about Energy Use Intensity (EUI) and how this is used as a measure of energy efficiency for buildings.
Attendees will learn about the AIA 2030 Commitment, and how the framework of this program aims to drive carbon reduction in the built environment.
Attendees will learn how energy modeling is an important tool for evaluating and reporting on comparative efficiency of buildings and energy efficiency measures.
