Progress Continues with Vandy United
Vandy United, the $300 million master planning effort focused on reimagining athletics at Vanderbilt University is well underway.
Ongoing Work
The first project to enter construction, the Basketball Operations Center and North End Zone, is progressing nicely with work also beginning on the South End Zone. The new building will feature a 130,000 SF building that upgrades both the fan and student-athlete experience. Premium seating will include living room boxes, loge boxes, club seating, field-level seating, founders’ suites, club suites, and open-air tailgate suites. The renovated concourse will be twice the size of the previous one and double the number of concessions stands. For student athletes, the project includes a new football game day locker room, and student athlete dining facility that is five times larger than the current facility.
In addition to providing MEP design services on the renovation and expansion areas of FirstBank Stadium SSR is also ensuring the facility will remain operable for the upcoming 2023 football season.
For fans to keep up with the changes, Vanderbilt has two live camera feeds offering real time views of the ongoing work at the Basketball Operations Center and South End Zone projects.
Hawkins Field Improvements
In May, Vanderbilt announced improvements to Hawkins Field, home to the Vandy Boys, Vanderbilt’s baseball team. This project is focused on the fan’s game day experience and includes a new entry atrium, private suites, and innovative club spaces that include a second grandstand level, behind-the-plate seating, and left-field wall. SSR is well positioned for this work, and we are optimistic we get the opportunity to continue our relationship with Vanderbilt athletics.
