Building Performance Modeling and The Quest to Make a Difference (2024)
Description:
Energy codes and beyond-code rating systems are increasing the need for energy models to demonstrate building energy performance. However, when left to the end of the design process, energy modeling can be seen simply as a necessary evil. This presentation will describe the benefits and use cases of creating energy models early and often in the design process, as well as how the new ASHRAE Standard 209-2018 could revolutionize the design and construction industry.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss why energy models are being used more frequently
Describe the purpose of ASHRAE Standard 209 and how can be used by Architects and Owners
Identify the drivers for high performance and net-zero energy buildings
Identify how energy modeling can be used as a design assistance tool
