Belmont University Janet Ayers Academic Center
Nashville, Tennessee
The Janet Ayers Academic Center is home to Belmont’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Sciences and Mathematics, and College of Theology and Christian Ministry. The 186,000 SF building sits above a five-level underground parking garage and is one of the largest buildings on Belmont University’s campus. The facility houses more than 50 undergraduate programs from three different colleges as well as 20 state-of-the-art science labs, numerous classrooms and offices, two food service venues, multiple green roofs, and a chapel.
This project is an excellent example of SSR’s ability to successfully provide multiple services on a project (LEED Consulting, Energy Modeling, M&V, Commissioning). Our team employed sustainable design and construction practices to optimize building performance, reduce impacts to the environment, and lower operational costs. The building is LEED® Platinum certified, making Belmont the first university in Tennessee and the first LEED for New Construction project in Nashville to achieve that level.
