Optimizing Energy Efficiency

At SSR, our energy modeling services are crucial for achieving energy, carbon, and cost savings goals. By building a detailed model and using iterative analysis and collaboration, we inform design decisions and develop effective energy-saving solutions throughout the design, construction, and operational phases. Our wholistic approach leads to optimal evaluation and implementation of system-level and whole-building level design decisions.

Life Cycle Cost Analysis

When evaluating the cost-effectiveness of various high performance design alternatives, we promote the use of Life-Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) to examine costs over the life of the investment, providing solutions with the highest overall value and the lowest Total Cost of Ownership. Factors affecting LCCA include first costs, energy costs, maintenance costs, equipment life, and the investment rate, or “discount” rate, the owner uses to make financial decisions. We provide the energy inputs into the LCCA analysis, while we collaborate with the construction manager or trade subcontractors to provide the first costs and system maintenance costs. With this information, we use industry standard software, such as NIST BLCC5, to perform the LCCA empowering the owner to make long-term decisions for their project.
