Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) announces that Methodist Olive Branch Hospital (MOBH) is LEED^® Gold certified, making it the first LEED for Healthcare Gold certified inpatient facility in the world.  The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained, and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.

MOBH, located in Olive Branch, Mississippi, was designed by Gresham Smith & Partners (GS&P) and SSR.  It was constructed by Turner Construction Company. The goal of this project was to deliver an energy efficient, LEED certified modern healthcare facility without exceeding the budget. To help achieve this goal, the project team employed Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), and lean construction practices, all of which ultimately allowed the team to deliver a successful project ahead of schedule and below budget.

“The owner’s commitment to building a healthier and more sustainable facility and the project team’s implementation of that vision is something to really be commended,” said SSR Principal Eric Sheffer, LEED AP BD+C, who led the sustainable consulting services provided by SSRCx.
